What We Are
We Theocrats are attempting to fill a niche that, to date, I have not seen filled in the realm of online publishing. There are many magazines and sites that discuss current events from a conservative position. There are many magazines and sites that discuss current events from a liberal position. These publications range from flaming liberal to extreme members of the vast far-right-wing conspiracy. There are sites that focus on current elections and site that focus on pop culture. What I have not seen, is a site that focuses on a historical viewpoint.
Understanding the history of our society and our culture can give us a broader perspective regarding our current challenges and issues. Although it is tempting to think that every issue facing us is new and unique, all too often we are facing only a new face to an old problem. Crime, disease, poverty, and injustice have always faced the peoples of the earth. While our knowledge and technology has grow in leaps and bounds, our understanding of the human condition has remained relatively stagnant.
The purpose of this site is to examine what our ancestors have said and done regarding the timeless challenges of humanity. What did the Founding Fathers really believe? What solutions did they see to poverty, war, and crime? What dangers did they fear the most? What economic ideas have worked and what economic ideas have proven the most devastating? The answers are available — if we can only learn our lessons.
But this site has another purpose as well. Our personal beliefs are not hidden. We believe that moral absolutes exist. There is a wrong and there is a right. We believe that evil is a real and culpable presence in the world. We believe that religion is indispensable to life. Indeed, we believe that Christianity is the only solution in a world increasingly going mad. We believe that the ends do not justify the means and that sometimes making a stand is more important than being on the winning side. We believe that the accumulation and pursuit of wealth is not an inherently evil trait. We believe that the Capitalistic pursuit of wealth is the most effective way to improve the well-being of everyone — not just the wealthy.
Through this site we hope to present a rational defense of our beliefs. We will tease those who feel threatened by our positions and expose the hypocrisy in their own words. We invite you to do the same to us. If you’ll agree to give us a fair hearing, we’ll try to give a well-supported argument for our stance. We hope you will stick around and enjoy the ride.
Your Theocrat, Amadeus
