Morning Briefing (07/01/2005)
by Joe Martin in supreme court, government at 11:24amWow. July already. Where does the time go? Two notes this morning (there’s a reason that friday is “Take Out the Trash Day” on the West Wing), both from the Agitator:
Say what? There’s a reason most of us consider Massachusets to be slightly unbalanced. The State legislature is currently considering a bill that would make it illegal to allow a child to ride in the back of a grocery cart. Glad to see that the Legislature is earning their salaries.
My native land has woken up and smelled the uselessness of it all. Virginia will no longer permit cities to operate traffic cameras that automatically ticket drivers for running red lights. (Hat tip.)
UPDATE: Justice Sandra Day O’Connor has retired. You can get the story from FoxNews or the Washington Post. (And presumably everywhere else on the ‘net within the next couple of hours.) So it begins. Predictably, right before I go offline for two and a half weeks to get married. Why can’t the world ever arrange itself around my schedule? People are so selfish!
