I have avoided writing about the Terri Schiavo case for the last several weeks. I have been silent because the case is a very detailed one, involving issues of State law, the conduct of Michael Schiavo, the medical condition of Terri Schiavo, and the definitions of life and personhood. Some of these issues I am ignorant of, others I have not considered deeply enough. Therefore, I have stayed out of the debate. I am breaking that silence today. But I am not breaking the silence to offer an opinion on the outcome of the case. I am breaking the silence to pose a question to Terri’s supporters.
